Suspect armed w/ pellet gun shoots at cars

DOWNEY, Calif. The California Highway Patrol said the pellet gun was used on the window of a two-seat Smart car south of Florence Avenue at about 7 p.m.

The driver said the shooting gave her quite a scare.

"I heard four pops, and I thought `what the heck,' and I looked around, and people were swerving," said victim Barbara Henry. "And then suddenly a blast that's still ringing in my ears."

The driver was not hurt, but the rear window of her car is mere inches from the back of her head.
