Brick smashes windshield, hurts 2 on 118 fwy

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. Jeff Holmes said he believes the brick was thrown from a park next to the freeway near the Erringer Road exit.

Holmes said the red brick hit his 16-year-old daughter in the chest and shattered the windshield of his Toyota Tundra.

"She was covered in glass and had cuts on her from the glass flying," Holmes said. "The whole inside of the truck was covered. Myself and Alex, the other passenger, we were just covered in glass."

His daughter, Lishell Canale, and the other passenger suffered minor injuries mostly from broken glass.

"After the brick hit me I was wiping my face," Canale said. "I saw glass on my hand and I freaked out because I didn't know where it was coming from."

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
