New round of tests for subway along Wilshire

LOS ANGELES The Westside Subway Project is expected to add seven stations to the Purple Line along the Wilshire corridor.

Crews began conducting soil, seismic, noise and vibration tests Monday at 200 sites in Westwood and other communities. It will take months to analyze the results, which will go a long way in determining how quickly Metro can extend its Purple Line to west Los Angeles.

Billions of dollars have already been committed to the subway project, which will enable over 300,000 people to travel to the area every day. Construction is expected to begin in two years.

The completion date is projected for the year 2022.
