As the train approached, she tried to get out of her car, but it was too late. The vehicle was hit by a Union Pacific train and thrown into an electrical pole at about 2 p.m.
The woman was declared dead at the scene.

ONTARIO, Calif. Authorities said the woman, who has not yet been identified, was waiting for traffic to clear at Milliken Avenue and Guasti Road. When the crossing arms started to come down, she tried to proceed through the intersection, but several other vehicles were in her way.
