Ventura man arrested for hate crime, assault

VENTURA, Calif. Ventura police responded to a disturbance call at a restaurant in the 5700 block of Walker Street about 8 p.m. Saturday and found the alleged victim with a wound to the head.

Officers said the victim, whose identity is being withheld, was leaving the restaurant when he was confronted by 26-year-old Nicholas Klopp.

Klopp allegedly made a derogatory remark to the victim and threw a drinking glass at the victim, striking him in the head.

The victim was taken to the hospital.

Officers found Klopp at his home. He was taken into custody without incident.
