Rescuers lifted the car off the students, and then when teachers and parents tried to stop the driver, he allegedly ignited a container of gas, burning his hands and face.
The four students, ages 6 to 12, suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The 67-year-old driver, identified as Wu Chuan Ming, was hospitalized. Police have not commented on his motive.
