A study released by the Environmental Working Group said the tap water in 31 of 35 U.S. cities is highly contaminated with hexavalent chromium, also known as Chromium-6.Chromium-6, which was introduced in the movie "Erin Brockovich," was first discovered in the water supply in the San Bernardino County desert town of Hinkley, leading to a massive lawsuit against a utility company.

According to the study, the cities with the highest contamination levels are Norman, Oklahoma; Honolulu, Hawaii; and Riverside, California.

Chromium-6 has been linked to stomach cancer and tumors.
