Brown announces appointments, including wife

Gov. Jerry Brown plans to keep his wife close by as he tackles California's problems.On Wednesday, Brown announced Anne Gust Brown will serve in the unpaid role of special counsel.

The governor also named other top appointments.

They include Jim Humes as executive secretary. Humes used to work for the Department of Justice.

Senior PG&E vice president Nancy McFadden will lead Brown's legislation, appointments and policy division.

Gil Duran will be his new press sectary. He's the current press secretary for Sen. Diane Feinstein.

Joshua Groban and Julie Henderson have been appointed as senior advisors for policy and appointments.

Jim Humes was appointed as executive secretary of administration.

Jonathan Renner was appointed legal affairs secretary.

Nick Velasquez will serve as director of external affairs.

Evan Westrup was appointed deputy press secretary.
