IE barricade forces lockdown at nearby school

HEMET, Calif. The Riverside County Sheriff's Department said they were called to a house on the 42000 block of Harmony Drive at 9:58 a.m. A court service deputy, who executes arrest warrants and other judicial orders, encountered the suspect and called for backup.

It was not immediately clear why the man was contacted, but an ABC7 viewer reported that the deputy was serving an eviction notice when the homeowner fired shots.

Little Lake Elementary School was placed on lockdown as a precaution, but authorities said the school was not immediately threatened.
