No charges will be filed in the death of a Newport Beach bail bondsman, who was shot to death in 2010. Dean Maldonado was shot at a home in Rancho Santa Margarita last July. The home belongs to a woman that witnesses say had an on-and-off relationship with the bail bondsman.

When Maldonado went through the back door, he was confronted by another man.

The two got into a heated argument that was loud enough to compel neighbors to call 911.

The man reportedly shot Maldonado during the confrontation.

The district attorney's office has decided not to file any charges. Prosecutors determined there was not enough criminal evidence.

Maldonado, 49, was the owner of Dean Maldonado Bail Bonds.
