Family and friends of a woman killed in a drunk-driving crash were outraged Sunday over news of plea deal in the case. The 23-year-old driver is scheduled to be sentenced Monday and may receive a one-year sentence.Family and friends of Leyna Marie Basua, 26, of Pomona, plan to rally outside Fontana Superior Court on Monday morning before the judge issues his decision of the sentencing of 23-year-old Ashley Young.

"We want the public to know we're serious about this and get the judge to change his mind," said Basua's best friend, Michelle Speigel.

Investigators said Young was driving drunk when she crashed into Basua's car.

Basua, 26, fought for nearly nine months to recover from her injuries but lost the battle in July.

"It's not fair," said Basua's mother, Mary Santibanez. "That was my baby that she killed. She murdered her."

Young pleaded guilty in December to vehicle manslaughter as part of a plea deal with prosecutors that carries a sentence of a year in jail.
