A federal judge has dismissed an Indian tribe's lawsuit to stop construction of a 5,000-acre gated resort on Tejon Ranch.

The ranch is located along Interstate 5, about 60 miles north of Los Angeles.

In October 2009, county supervisors approved the project for 3,500 homes, two golf courses and a luxury hotel.

The suit against Kern County and federal officials claimed that portions of the land belong to the Kawaiisu Tribe.

The tribe's lawyer is waiting to see the judge's written ruling before commenting.
