Suspect sought in W. Valley child annoyances

CALABASAS, Calif.

Detectives have a sketch of the suspect they are looking for and they're hoping someone will recognize him. Deputies say the suspect approached a boy in Hidden Hills and a girl in Calabasas.

Authorities are looking for two vehicles involved in these incidents. A description of both of those vehicles has also been released.

Detectives say Wednesday around 1 p.m. a man in a red Nissan Titan pickup truck tried to coerce an 11-year-old girl into his vehicle while she was walking home from a park in The Oaks, a gated community in Calabasas.

In a similar case a week ago on Jan. 19, investigators say, a man in a van tried to lure a 10-year-old boy into his vehicle at Round Meadow and Jed Smith roads in Hidden Hills.

Investigators say in Wednesday's incident, a suspect told the 11-year-old girl he was asked to pick her up.

Detectives released a sketch of the suspects a week ago. It's vague. He's described as a Latino man in his 40s or 50s. Authorities say he may have a mustache. Detectives don't know if this man is linked to both incidents.

Parents are concerned.

Elementary school principals in both communities are on high alert.

Investigators say the victims did the right thing when they were approached by the suspect.
