There was a test of endurance Tuesday morning at the annual run-up of New York's tallest building.

Racers took off from the lobby of the Empire State Building and climbed 86 flights to the outdoor observation deck.

That's 1,576 steps.

About 400 people took part in this year's quarter mile vertical run-up.

The winner, Thomas Dold of Germany, made it with a time of 10 minutes, 10 seconds. Dold won the competition for a record sixth straight year.
