Nikki Blonsky, who rose to fame with the 2007 film "Hairspray," says she wants to appear on "Glee," FOX's hit musical sitcom.

"Glee" depicts a group of misfits and popular kids in a high school glee club performing top 40 and Broadway songs and is one of the most popular prime-time programs. The show has featured guest appearances from Gwyneth Paltrow, Britney Spears, Josh Groban, Olivia Newton-John and more.

"I would love to be on @GLEEonFOX," Blonsky wrote on her Twitter page recently.

Blonsky played Tracy Turnblad in "Hairspray," a musical that starred Zac Efron, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken and John Travolta as her mother. In the past year, Blonsky, 22, appeared on the short-lived ABC Family drama series "Huge," which depicted a group of overweight teenagers at a weight loss camp, and played a mother in the movie "Waiting For Forever," which is due for release on Friday, February 4.

The movie tells of a failing television actress who returns from Hollywood to her hometown to care for her sick father and reunites with her childhood best friend, a man who is content with his life, despite being unemployed.

The film stars Rachel Bilson of the drama series "The O.C.," Tom Sturridge, Blythe Danner, Matthew Davis and Richard Jenkins.

Blonsky also recently made her stage debut with the off-Broadway play "Love, Loss, and What I Wore," which stars Alexis Bledel of the show "Gilmore Girls," Anita Gillette of "30 Rock" fame, Judy Gold and Pauletta Washington. The cast is set to continue starring in the production until February 13.
