N. Long Beach may get 17 surveillance cameras

February 8, 2011 12:17:36 AM PST
Seventeen more surveillance cameras may soon be installed in North Long Beach. The Long Beach City Council is set to vote on the cameras on Tuesday night.

If approved, at least six of the cameras will be in Ramona Park, and all 17 would be tied into the existing camera system at the Long Beach Towne Center and downtown along Pine Avenue and the promenade.

Long Beach police will determine exactly where the cameras will be installed.

The scheduled vote follows a move by the city's redevelopment agency. On Monday, it approved a $400,000 contract with CelPlan technologies to install the cameras.
