Somali pirates capture Americans in yacht

Two of those captured own the yacht. They are members of a yacht club in Marina del Rey.

Somali pirates hijacked the yacht about 275 miles off the coast of Oman. U.S. officials confirmed there were two men and two women on the boat when it was sea-jacked.

Ecoterra International, a non-governmental organization that monitors maritime activity, reported the yacht was seized in the afternoon.

Scott and Jean Adam own the yacht s/v Quest. They are members of the Del Rey Yacht Club, and have been on a round-the-world sailing trip for more than a year. The couple maintains a mailing address at the club.

A distress signal was sent by the boat from the middle of the Indian Ocean Friday, according to an AFP report.

Scott and Jean Adam have been on their sailboat since 2002. According to their website, www.svquest.com, they have sailed to multiple locations in the Pacific Ocean.

The crew had planned to be in Cochin, India, from Jan. 23 to 30, then sail for Salalah, Oman, according to the site.

The seized yacht is a Davidson 58 pilot house sloop, according to the couple's website.

According to the site, the couple travels and distributes Bibles around the world.
