A new Los Angeles transit project unveiled Wednesday purports to improve traffic along the notoriously busy 405.

The project is a direct rail tunnel from the San Fernando Valley to Westwood.

Organizers say commuters could go from Ventura Boulevard to Wilshire Boulevard in just six minutes.

This new project is part of the 30/10 Plan, a move to accelerate 30 years of projects into 10 years by leveraging the measure R sales tax revenue passed in 2008.

The 30/10 Plan would borrow against the 30-year revenue stream through federal programs that enable public and private financing.
