March 22, 2011 12:00:00 AM PDT
A public memorial service will be held Saturday for singer Nate Dogg in his home town of Long Beach.

The service will be held at the cruise terminal by the Queen Mary at 10 a.m. Viewing for the singer will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, 1160 New York St., also in Long Beach.

The 41-year-old, who provided hooks for rappers like Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, died on March 15 from stroke-related complications.

The singer, whose real name is Nathaniel Hale, began singing in Long Beach's New Hope Baptist Church choir, but his career, which spanned three decades, started when he joined cousin Snoop Dogg in the trio 213 with Warren G.
