The youngest star of the Los Angeles Opera isn't even a teenager yet. Michael Meo is just 12 years old, and he is a featured performer in "Turn of the Screw."

His mother said she knew he would be a singer when he was just a toddler because he would hold a cup up to his mouth and listen to the sound of his own voice.

She enrolled him in music lessons, and then a boy's choir, and for some reason, he gravitated toward opera.

"I had a very vague idea what even opera was. All I got was the comical version in school of the fat lady singing the high note," Meo said.

Off stage, Meo is a regular kid. He likes sports and posting goofy videos of himself online. His musical tastes are expanding, but he admits he really only likes one rock song - "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor from the 1980s.
