CA bill would set June presidential primary

Facing a massive budget deficit, California may move its presidential primary back from February to June.

That would likely hurt California's influence on picking presidential nominees, but it would also save the state $100 million.

That's because it would combine the presidential primary with the regular statewide primary, so California would only have to pay for one primary election, not two.

A bill to combine the primaries passed the state Assembly on Monday by unanimous vote.
