The "Day of Donation" is the product of a partnership between the Association of Library Trustees, Advocates, Friends and Foundations (ALTAFF), a division of the American Library Association (ALA).
People nationwide are encouraged to donate new or gently used books to local libraries. Some books will be passed on to the Friends of the Library to be sold at library fundraisers.
The Book-of-the-Month Club is celebrating its 85th anniversary.
The club is also launching a promotion in which 85 winners will be selected for their donation efforts. They will win 10 new books, courtesy of the Book-of-the-Month Club and Random House. The online promotion can be found at http://www.facebook.com/BookoftheMonth.
