Americans spend $2 billion on Easter candy

According to the National Confectioners Association, Easter candy sales are on the rise. The high demand for Easter candy has made it hard for many stores to keep their shelves stocked.

Eighty-eight percent of adults create Easter baskets for their children. In the process they use 16 billion jellybeans, 5 million marshmallow chicks and bunnies, and 90 million chocolate bunnies.

Americans are expected to consume an estimated 7 billion pounds of candy for Easter, and the average person will spend more than $18 on sweet treats.
