The public is being asked to report potholes by calling 311.
The Department of Public Works will use that information to fill about 20,000 of them during Operation Pothole between June 5 and 6. According to the mayor, 75 crews will be deployed to fill them.
Some drivers applaud the operation. They said fixing damage caused by holes in the road can be expensive.
"I go down Crescent Heights every day to get to work and there are times I have to stop and see if the alignment on my car shifted because the potholes are so deep, they're everywhere and you can't even avoid it," said West Hollywood resident Cristina Tamargo.
Los Angeles fills about 250,000 potholes across the city every year.
