Los Angeles Zoo breeds endangered mountain yellow-legged frogs

LOS ANGELES

The mountain yellow-legged frog has nearly disappeared in the wild.

A breeding program at the zoo involving four males and six females produced hundreds of eggs in March. More than 200 tadpoles hatched in April.

The frogs will be kept at the zoo for the coming months.

They'll be released this summer into the wild in an ongoing effort to save the species.
