The 35-year-old comedian was deported on Saturday. He had traveled to Japan because his wife, singer Katy Perry, was scheduled to perform a series of concerts there.
Sunday, Perry Tweeted that Brand was denied entry due to criminal activity over 10 years ago.
Japanese immigration officials did not comment.
