Kirk, Anne Douglas donate $2M to theater co.

LOS ANGELES

The Douglases have already donated $1 million to the organization to develop new work, combining for a $2 million donation to the group.

"This challenge grant will be active for the next 10 years. For every $2 that CTG raises, the Foundation will add another $1. This has a potential of yielding up to $4 million to support new theater," said Peter Douglas, president of The Douglas Foundation.

In 2004, Kirk and Anne donated $2.5 million to transform the Culver Theater, part of the Center Theatre Group, into the Kirk Douglas Theatre.

The Center Theatre Group, a non-profit company, comprises the Ahmanson Theatre, the Mark Taper Forum and the Kirk Douglas Theatre.

The Douglas Foundation seeks to improve through philanthropy various projects in education, the arts, medical research and for the needy.
