Armed robber arrested exiting Fullerton store

FULLERTON, Calif.

Pico Rivera resident Demetres Mitchell, 28, was arrested exiting the HR Market at 253 S. Magnolia after allegedly holding up the store at gunpoint at about 8 p.m.

Mitchell is suspected of committing similar armed robberies of the same and other stores by pulling out a gun, vaulting the counter and stealing cash from the register. Police suspect Mitchell has robbed HR Market at least twice previously.

Fullerton Police had been surveilling HR Market due to previous robberies since January, according to the department. He was arrested by officers outside the store as he attempted to flee.

Police said Mitchell tended to rob his targets between 7-8 p.m. on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.

Mitchell is charged with three robberies in Fullerton since January, and is suspected of multiple additional robberies in Orange and Los Angeles counties, according to Fullerton Police.
