Lucy Liu says 'Kung Fu Panda 2' emphasizes family bond

LOS ANGELES

Liu plays the voice behind Viper in the new animated sequel, /*"Kung Fu Panda 2*/: The Kaboom of Doom."

Viper is part of the "Furious Five," a diverse group of animals who will have each other's backs.

"I think that's the main idea in the second one - really how friendship and family all come together to support you always," Liu said.

The actress said the theme of team spirit is emphasized throughout the movie.

"I think that there is something wonderful about friendship and understanding that when your friend needs you, you're going to show up and you're going to be there," she said.

The film also addresses serious topics including fitting in with new friends, and sometimes even, new family.

"I think it's a very universal message they're sending across, which is that you don't have to look exactly like your parents or your guardian or whoever is taking care of you, as long as you know the connection is about love and that you're relating to that person and that's your family," Liu described.

Along with Liu, the movie also features the voice talent of /*Dustin Hoffman*/ plus /*Angelina Jolie*/ and /*Jack Black*/ as the Kung Fu Panda himself.

"Kung Fu Panda 2: The Kabloom of Doom" is rated PG.
