The successful desert music festival is adding a second weekend to its lineup for 2012.
It will not be a different show. Organizers say they will attempt to produce two identical festival weekends. That means the same lineup, same art, same place, but different audience.
The annual festival at Indio's Empire Polo Grounds will be held on April 13 to 15 and April 20 to 22.
Passes, $269 each, will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. on the festival's website. Early purchases, which include an installment payment option, will be available until June 10 at 10 p.m.
The change in early ticket sales was made because passes to this year's festival "sold out much sooner than than anticipated," and the promoters were "surprised by the overwhelming response" that left the festival sold out a week after tickets went on sale -- in January.
This year's festival drew nearly 100,000 people each of its three days.
