Assembly passes standards for future rave concerts

June 1, 2011 12:00:00 AM PDT
A new crackdown on raves: The state Assembly has passed a bill that creates tougher safety standards at the music events.

Changes were made to the measure before it was passed.

Instead of naming raves specifically, the bill now says there needs to be more safety at any event that draws more than 10,000 people.

The bill was made in response to the deaths of three people at raves around the state last year, including a 15-year-old girl who died of a drug overdose at the Electric Daisy Carnival.
