The Bombero Program (Spanish for "firefighter") is now in its 46th year in California.
This year, the training is taking place in Victorville, with the help of instructors from a number of area fire departments, and Cal Fire.
"They continually thank us, and it's good that they are asking good questions and they're really interactive and motivated, and it's also a good opportunity for us to share in some of the knowledge that they have accumulated over their careers as well," said San Bernardino County Firefighter Nick Landry.
The Bomberos are being exposed to modern U.S. methods and equipment. But the training is also tailored to the firefighting capabilities in their hometowns.
