Asian street gang members arrested for drugs, guns

SAN GABRIEL, Calif.

Sheriff's Dept. Asian Gang Team deputies pulled over a vehicle in Temple City near Rosemead Blvd. and Longden Ave. at about 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The driver, San Gabriel resident Jimmy Chau, 22, displayed "nervous and unusual" behavior, according the sheriff's department. Deputies investigated further and found approximately 2,000 Ecstasy (MDMA) pills in the vehicle.

Chau was arrested on suspicion of narcotics trafficking. Investigators obtained a search warrant for Chau's San Gabriel home and for a second residence, located on Longden Ave. in Temple City.

Investigators discovered 3,000 Ecstasy pills at the Longden Ave. location. Also seized from that location were a handgun, a shotgun, a bulletproof vest, methamphetamine, several assault rifle parts, live bullets, several thousand dollars in cash and indications of gang affiliation, according the sheriff's department.

Temple City resident Andy Lin, 30, was arrested at that residence on narcotics and weapons charges.

A search of Chau's residence on the 5500 block of Walnut Grove in San Gabriel netted more than a thousand dollars in cash. No drugs or weapons were found at the location.

Chau was held on $30,000 bail. Lin was held on $100,000 bail.

Both Chau and Lin are members of the Wah Ching Asian street gang, according to the sheriff's department.
