The incident happened near the intersection of San Juan Street and Tustin East Drive.
Police said the boy was walking home from school when he was approached by an adult couple in a white Jeep asking him if he wanted a ride home.
The boy said no, but the couple approached him again a short time later in a shopping center parking lot.
The boy ran away and called for help and the couple fled the scene.
