Actors unions begin negotiation talks for merger

LOS ANGELES

Officials with the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and the /*Screen Actors Guild*/ began the talks Sunday in Silver Spring, Maryland.

They discussed key issues including structure, finance and dues, collective bargaining, pension and health benefits, operations and staff, and member outreach. Work groups will meet all this year to continue the talks.

The next full merger committee meeting between AFTRA and SAG will be at the end of August in New York City.

SAG has 125,000 members and AFTRA has 70,000.
