3 women tied up, robbed in Van Nuys home invasion

VAN NUYS, LOS ANGELES

The women told police that three men broke into their home in the 13900 block of Archwood Street at about 3 a.m. According to LAPD Det. Glenn O'Shea, the victims were bound and kept in a room while the suspects demanded money.

The suspects made off with thousands in cash and jewelry.

The women said they were doused with a flammable liquid. Because police found a motor oil-like substance on the floor, there were fears that the home may catch on fire.

"We have to scrutinize the clothing to find out if there was something for sure ... but nobody was burned," O'Shea said.

A 65-year-old woman was hospitalized. Police said she was hit over the head.

"There was no resisting, I think it was just to cause fear to the victims to cooperate," O'Shea said.

Authorities said the only suspect description available was three men between the ages of 25 and 35 and about average height. The suspects were wearing dark clothing, and they had their faces covered.
