The shooting occurred near Hemlock St. and Patterson Rd. Police did not find either of the vehicles at the scene.
Once the victims and their vehicle were located, responding officers determined that occupants of one vehicle fired shots into another occupied vehicle while driving in the area.
The victims reported they were driving home when a vehicle pulled alongside and occupants within began flashing gang signs and calling out the name of a local Oxnard gang, according to police.
The victims told police one of the occupants of the other vehicle fired a gun several times at the victims, striking their vehicle several times. No one was injured.
The victims fled and reported the incident to police. Police said they did not appear to have gang ties.
