San Juan Capistrano jewelry suspects still at large

June 27, 2011 12:00:00 AM PDT
Two suspects in a deadly botched robbery at a jewelry store in San Juan Capistrano were still on the loose Monday and investigators want help from the public to find them.

Three men wearing masks and gloves tried to hold up Monaco Jewelers Friday morning.

An employee opened fire and hit two suspects, killing them. They're identified as Robert Avery and Desmond Brown, both 39 years old, from Los Angeles.

Two suspects got away in a Toyota Camry. It was originally reported Friday only one suspect escaped.

Investigators are also looking at whether two earlier jewelry store robberies are connected to Friday's.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff's Dept. at (714) 628-7170.
