Julie Benz and Rich Orosco, a marketing executive, became engaged on Sunday, June 26, 2011. He proposed to the actress with a "customized Kwiat cushion-cut diamond and platinum engagement ring - complete with a diamond frame and milgrain edge band' in the backyard of their Los Angeles home, People magazine said. Her spokesperson confirmed the report to OnTheRedCarpet.com. Benz said on her Twitter page that one boy may not be happy about the news - her dog, Bamboo. She obtained him when he was a puppy just after she and actor John Kassir split. He and Benz were married between 1998 and 2007. The two have no children, but the actress had to leave two dogs in the process of their divorce. Benz told People magazine in April 2011 that having Bamboo as her companion helped as she went through the divorce, adding: 'He kind of saved me when I needed saving.' The actress also has a 1-year-old Maltese named Sugar. Benz is known for her roles in shows such as 'No Ordinary Family' and 'Dexter' as well as movies such as the 2009 Hallmark Channel film 'Uncorked' and the 2005 movie 'Bad Girls From Valley High.'
