Kimberly Nizato faces up to three years in state prison when she's sentenced in July.
Authorities rescued Nizato's German shepherd from her back yard. The veterinarian who examined the dog found hair, dirt and rocks in his stomach but no food.
The dog has since been adopted and renamed Courage.
