LOS ANGELES --
New research shows that motivational text messages may help smokers kick the habit for good.
The study, which followed 5,800 smokers in the U.K., found those who were texted encouraging messages and tips for dealing with cravings were more than twice as likely to quit as those in the other group.
The findings suggest motivational texting should be added to existing techniques used to help people quit smoking.
