'All My Children' last episode date announced

The network announced the final date on Thursday in a press release, saying the iconic series will end in a manner that "respects the show's legacy and honors its history."

According to the announcement, the final few episodes will feature the return of past characters to Pine Valley including Josh Duhamel as Leo Du Pres, Eva La Rue as Maria Santos, Thorsten Kaye as Zach Slater, Carol Burnett as Verla Grubbs and others.

"All My Children" has won more than 30 Daytime Emmy Awards throughout its 41 years on the air.

The week following the show's final episode, the network is set to launch a new show called "The Chew." The one-hour lifestyle series is scheduled to debut Monday, Sept. 26.

The show centers around exploring life through food and will include a diverse panel of co-hosts that includes restaurateurs and "Iron Chef" stars Mario Batali and Michael Symon, entertaining expert Clinton Kelly, "Top Chef" alum Carla Hall and health and wellness enthusiast Daphne Oz.

"The Chew" is the first new series to launch on ABC Daytime in 14 years.
