The Thousand Oaks Police Department and FBI arrested Verl Darvin Chaney, 52.
The investigation began in May when an undercover Thousand Oaks police detective using a publicly available file-sharing program found that Chaney was sharing illegal child pornography.
The downloaded images and videos contained actual minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct, police said.
A search warrant was served at Chaney's home and he was arrested without incident. He was booked on felony child pornography into the Ventura County Jail with bail set at $50,000.
