Protesters demand Frank McCourt sell the Dodgers

July 9, 2011 12:00:00 AM PDT
Protesters gathered near Dodger Stadium on Saturday demanding that Dodger fans boycott the day's home game against the San Diego Padres.

They said they support the players but they want owner Frank McCourt to sell the financially troubled team.

The demonstration was organized by Dodger fan Roger Arrieta, who wants to see Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban take over the franchise.

"Whether it's Mark Cuban or anybody else that comes in, we need someone to return the Dodgers back to their glory," said Arrieta, who started the website, markcubansavethedodgers.com.

"I used to be a season ticket holder last year, I turned in my tickets this year and I've been to maybe two games at the most," Mary Jones said. "I'm still a Dodger fan, but I don't want to support McCourt at all."

Among other things, protesters chanted, "Go back to Boston."
