Ex-Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to be in court for Esteban Nunez's commutation

SACRAMENTO

The lawsuit stems from Schwarzenegger's decision as governor to reduce the prison sentence of Esteban Nunez, who is the son of former Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez.

Esteban Nunez pleaded guilty to being involved in the 2008 killing of 22-year-old Luis Santos in San Diego.

Schwarzenegger reduced Nunez's prison sentence from 16 years to seven, arguing the original sentence was unfair.

Santos' parents say the Schwarzenegger's decision violated their constitutional right to be consulted before a prisoner's sentence can be commuted.
