16-pound baby boy born in Texas

LONGVIEW, Texas

Janet Johnson gave birth Friday to a 16-pound, 1-ounce baby boy. He was born 24 inches long.

The baby boy has been named JaMichael, and nicknamed "Moose."

Doctors said the baby would be big, they just didn't think it would be as big.

"Doctor told us he was going to be about 12, but when he pulled him out, it was a different story," said the baby's father, Michael Brown.

JaMichael's the biggest baby on record in Longview, but not even close to the Guinness world record: that would be a 23-pound baby born in 1879.

Janet says the first thing she has to do when she gets home from the hospital: take back all the baby clothes she bought because they won't fit.

Johnson has gestational diabetes, which results in bigger newborns for many mothers.
