Skin allergies may protect against some types of cancer

LOS ANGELES

Researchers in Denmark found that people who develop itchy rashes when their skin comes in contact with certain metals or chemicals have lower risks of breast and non-melanoma skin cancers.

Investigators said the allergies may trigger the immune system to kill cancer cells before they do damage.

The researchers also discovered that women with skin allergies had slightly lower rates of brain /*cancer*/, but this finding was not seen in men.
