Study: Personality type, weight gain linked

LOS ANGELES

Researchers studied nearly 2,000 people over a 50-year period.

They found more impulsive people tended to be about 24 pounds heavier than their counterparts.

Researchers also found that people who are meaner are more likely to gain weight with age. Those considered more conscientious were likely to be leaner.

The study was published by the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.
