At issue is a 14-acre property on the 800 block of North Coronado Street.
City Councilwoman Jan Perry wants to give up the right to build a park on the property and take a cash payout to spend on existing parks instead. She says it's not a practical location to build a new park.
The councilwoman has sent a letter asking officials to allow the land's owner to pay the city an estimated $3.6 million.
The urban farm that used to be at the site was bulldozed five years ago amid much protest.
