Evicted OC home owners leaving dogs behind

ORANGE, Calif.

Orange County Animal Care is caring for five dogs that were abandoned by their owners who were evicted from their homes in July.

Three of the dogs were placed in quarantine as part of a possibly animal cruelty case.

One mini Poodle mix was found in poor health and underweight in a home in Santa Ana.

One woman evicted from her home left her dog named Lucky behind. A neighbor fed and walked the dog before it was taken to the shelter.

Orange County Animal Care says they want pet owners facing evictions to know they have options.

"If they can't find a temporary home, we encourage them to outreach to local rescue groups and see if there's funding available to help, a foster home available to help or maybe they can help them place their pet," said Katie Ingram of the OCAC. "If they can't find any group to help them then the shelter is always an option."
